Ground Rules:

  • We will play with the same rules we used last year and in the street challenge. For those who are new, here are some highlights:

  • No metal spikes, no bunting

  • 10 players on the field (8 males and 2 females) unlimited substitution in & out but must bat in rotation

  • 10 players bat (2 females bat first in line up followed by 8 males)

  • Must have 9 players to start a game (8 males, 1 female)

  • No players will be allowed to play unless they are on your roster, the only exception will be female players if you are short a female (must be a resident)

  • Batting starts with a 1-1 count with 1 courtesy foul with 2 strikes

  • Runners must use the outside bag at first and home plate

  • Pinch runner would be the last out (same gender)

  • Teams for the First Game sets up the field (please have field ready before 1pm)

  • Teams for the Second Game puts away the equipment

  • Respect our umpire, they are not always right but their decisions are final. Discussions not arguments.

  • No foul language (kids will be watching)

  • Please contact your captain in advance if you are going to miss a game

  • With two outs If a team walks a male batter with female on deck the female can take a walk or bat (her option)

  • 15 minute grace period for making minimum of 8 players

  • Texas extra inning rules

Softball Rules 2012:

1. A softball with a leather cover will be used by all teams. These softballs must have a coefficient of .44 and have the A.S.A. stamp. All balls will be supplied by the umpire.

2. Bats and gloves must be furnished by teams. Bats should be ASA standard.

3. The official diamond shall consist of 65-foot base distance and a 50-foot pitching distance.

4. No metal spikes will be allowed. Only plastic cleats or sneakers are acceptable

5. The Batting Order will be as followed:

1. F - 2.F - 3.M - 4.M - 5.M - 6.M - 7.M - 8.M - 9.M - 10.M – 11/12/13.M (if available)

In the event that a team does not have a full 10 player team when the missing position comes up in the batting order it is an automatic out Male or Female

6. All games are 6 innings with 10 run rule (unless you’re behind) per inning except for final inning, Use Texas Tie Breaker Rule:

·         Start with last batter from prior inning on Second base

·         Batting order does not change, no 10 run rule

·         One inning only, otherwise game is a tie

7. All batters start with a 1 -1 count, 1 courtesy foul on 2 strikes next foul is an out.

8. Substitutions on field and bases are unlimited. Pinch runner will be the last out of the same gender. All subs must be announced to opposing team captain. No substitution in batting order. NO OFF ROSTER SUBS if 10 Players from the team roster are available.   

9. Home run over the fence will be marked by a flag. To the left of the flag is a ground rule double, to the left of the flag will be a home run, if the ball lands on the field it is a live ball unless it bounces over the fence. The right field fence will be marked vertically; any ball over to the right of the line is a ground rule double. 

10. No hit by pitch. No bunting.

11. Home plate will be an oversized plate. A second home plate will be used by runner. Runner must tag outside plate or it is an out. Catcher can not tag runner after the commit line or runner is safe.

12. If a male is walked ahead of a female batter the batter automatically advances to 2nd base and the female batter has the option to take first or bat (her choice)

13. Only available players on field and in dugout.

14. No leading off base. Runners can only run on contact.

15. Foul language is not tolerated. Player(s) will get verbal warning. 2nd warning is ejection.

16. Umpire has discretion to eject player(s) for excessive arguing.

17. Pitcher is allowed 5 warm-up pitches. No infield/outfield warm-ups between innings after 1st inning.

18. In the event that a team does not have 8 players to play a non roster resident can be used from only the sub list, subs must register through the clubhouse and be on the sub list prior to the games, all previous gender rules would still apply. Additional females can be used but must bat in position they are filling

19 We will have a minimum depth line and a maximum depth line; outfielders must be outside the line until the ball is hit

20. HOME TEAM FOR GAME 1 SETS UP (rake field, place out bases, chalk infield, paint foul lines, hang score board

21. HOME TEAM FOR GAME 3 TEARS DOWN (put back bases, paint striper, chalk machine, scoreboard, rake, etc…)

22. YOUR MOTHER WILL NOT BE THERE TO CLEAN UP YOUR TRASH OR YOUR KIDS TRASH. Please clean up after yourselves. There will be a garbage can and a recyclables container at the field.

23. Have fun, play fair.

 

In order for us to complete the games and stay on schedule, please arrive at the field a minimum of 15 minutes prior to your teams scheduled time, please keep you team together and have line up a card ready for the opposing captain. Please move team on and off the field between innings as quickly as you can and make sure your on deck batters are ready.

 

Information:

Open to ages 17 and up - Co-ed teams - Goal of 6 teams (14 players per team)
Sunday afternoon games only
League begins week before the Super Bowl (No games Palm Sunday or Easter Sunday)
Playoffs last Sunday of the season

Cost $30 per player or $50 per couple & includes:
Umpires - Team Shirt - Equipment (you supply your own glove and bat)

To sign up you must be a Stoneybrook homeowner in good standing with HOA dues or renters that are registered with the HOA. Due to insurance reasons only residents will be able to participate this year.

To sign up you need to go to the clubhouse during normal business hours Mon-Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-1pm. Payment needs to be made at time of registration, you need to bring clubhouse Id or your drivers license.
